Meet Mykel Broady

For Mykel, youth sports have always been more than competition — they’ve been a pathway to growth, community, and lifelong connection. After moving to Las Vegas in 2009, one of the first things he did was join NYS. Season after season, he built friendships, developed his skills, and created memories that still stick with him today.

What started as playing as a kid inspired Mykel to volunteer on Saturdays as a Site Director, helping young athletes compete in a safe and encouraging environment. That passion eventually blossomed into a full-time career as a driven and dedicated Director of Basketball, where he’s determined to give today’s athletes an even richer experience than his own. His mission goes far beyond the scoreboard. He believes deeply in helping kids “extract gold from the game” — the kind of gold that comes in the form of character development, new friendships, learning through adversity, and discovering what it means to be part of a team.

A proud University of Nevada, Reno graduate, Mykel double-majored in Marketing and Management with a minor in Business Analytics, bringing both strategic insight and organizational skill to his role.

Outside of work, Mykel values time with family, reading, and listening to poetry expressed through Rap music, finding inspiration and balance in these personal passions. He is guided daily by his WHYs in life, to: learn for a lifetime, redefine normal, defy the odds, and exemplify kindness.
